2008
Proceeds from the 2008
Reménység Bál will benefit the Hungarian Language
Schools in the tri-state area. Specifically,
these are the
Arany János Iskola in New York, NY,
the Fairfield Magyar Iskola in Fairfield, CT, the
Széchényi Magyar Iskola in New Brunswick, NJ and the
St. István Magyar Iskola in Passaic NJ.
2006
Proceeds from the 2006 Reménység Bál benefited the
Foundation for Csángo Hungarians of Magyarfalu.
The town of Magyarfalu (Arini) in Romania is home to
several hundred Csángo Hungarian families.
Despite living apart Hungary for centuries, they
have managed to preserve ancient traditions, folk
art and music, and a Hungarian dialect. The
2006 Ball specifically benefited the Foundation's
Children Home, which now houses a Hungarian school
for Csángo youth.
2004
Proceeds from the 2004 Reménység Bál benefited the Kárpátaljai
Magyar Tanárképző Főiskola (Transcarpathian Teachers
College) in Beregszász, Ukraine. This region's
population is primarily Hungarian, once a part of
Hungary. Specifically, funds were allocated to the
restoration of a century-old building that now
houses the school, the only Hungarian language
teachers college in Ukraine.

1998
Proceeds from the 1998 Hope Gala Ball benefited the
Református Egyházi Alapiskola, Rózsnyó, Slovakia.
A relatively new school in Slovakia, this school is
also dedicated to teaching its students in their
native Hungarian, though they live in a
non-Hungarian region. Proceeds were used to buy
books and supplies, and for scholarships.
1997
Proceeds from the 1997 Hope Gala Ball benefited the
Nagyberegi Református Gimnázium, Ukraine.
By educating the young people in this otherwise
non-Hungarian area, the school continues its work in
keeping the Hungarian language and culture alive.
Proceeds from the ball were able to provide
necessary technical and financial aid in order to
maintain a high standard of education in the area.
1996
Proceeds from the 1996 Ball benefited the Hungarian
Human Rights Monitor, Toronto - Voivodina. The
Hungarian Human Rights Monitor is a Toronto-based
organization which has, over the years, been devoted
to the plight of the Hungarian minority in the
states of the former Yugoslavia. Through the
Hungarian Human Rights Monitor, we were able to send
financial aid for the purchase of books, supplies
and educational materials for kindergartens in
war-torn Voivodina.
